Threads, Meta’s new social network that will compete with Twitter, should be launched on Thursday (6). After the leaker Alessandro Paluzzi released the Threads page in the Play Store, it was the turn of the App Store to receive the application. Meta has also created an easter egg for the social network: when you type Threads into the Instagram search on iOS, you’ll see a card showing that the app will launch on July 6.
Paluzzi, the first to show the app in a store, is a respected source for his track record of hits. The leaker stands out for using his programming expertise to investigate the codes hidden in apps.
Last year, the Italian revealed that Instagram was developing the native post scheduling tool and that Meta was working on IG Candid, a rival to BeReal for its photo social network. Now, he hits one more.
The disclosure of Threads in the App Store was carried out by The Verge.
Threads can arrive at the best possible time
With the recent tweet viewing limitation, the launch of Threads this week will be the best time for its arrival. Meta’s new social network may catch the public at the “height of disappointment” with this unfortunate news from Twitter.
Even though Musk has announced that the limitation is momentary, he has not been told when it will end. In the meantime, Threads should take advantage of the anticipation of its debut and its “limitless” viewing to catch the Twitter audience.
As you can see from the tweet above and the opening image of the story, the accounts used to exemplify the use of Threads are the same. For example, we have the users jiho100x and gwangurl77.
Something that will make it easier for new accounts to enter the platform is that it is based on Instagram. Thus, it will be enough to use the account of the photo and video platform to access the new social network of Meta – and your settings will be migrated.
This integration — which is optional — makes the user already start using Threads by following (and being followed) the accounts they already follow on Instagram. According to the image of the presentation of the social network, it will be possible for users to interact with members of other platforms, such as Mastodon.
APK of Threads was released by the leaker
In addition to the images of Threads in the Play Store, Alessandro Paluzzi released a link to download the APK of Threads. In the replies, no one was able to create the account. Something expected, since the social network has not even been launched yet and probably its systems are still restricted to the use of Meta.
When it was still called “Project 92” and “Barcelona,” Threads was introduced to a group of content creators. The slides of the presentation were revealed by journalist Lia Haberman. The interaction buttons are the same as Instagram’s. However, the layout of the feed is extremely similar to Twitter.
This new Meta social network is touted as the reason Elon Musk “joked” about challenging Mark Zuckerberg to a fight. Zuckerberg accepted what looked like a marketing ploy by his rival. Now, there’s even involvement from UFC CEO Dana White to get the fight off the ground.
