WhatsApp will have the option of alternative profiles for professional and unknown contacts

Several people use WhatsApp as both a personal and professional means of communication. So, the Meta app is developing a tool that allows you to create alternative profiles for different contacts. The novelty that should make life easier for users who use only one number.

According to WABetaInfo, the feature makes it possible to have specific profiles for friends, family, professional contacts and strangers. Thus, the user can set a different name and profile picture to be displayed to each “target audience”.

WhatsApp’s Alternate Profile feature was discovered in the recent beta version of the Android app (2.23.24.4). According to WABetaInfo, the option to create different profiles will be available in the photo settings.

In addition to the name and photo, the person will choose from four options who can view the profile information: “Everyone”, “My Contacts”, “My Contacts Except” and “No one”. This filter serves as a new layer of security and privacy for people.

WhatsApp’s upcoming feature promises to offer more freedom to users who only use one account. For example, having alternate profiles will help differentiate close contacts, such as friends and family, from professionals and strangers.

When will the Alternate Profile be launched by WhatsApp?
As per the information, the WhatsApp Alternate Profile feature is under development. Despite appearing in the beta version of the app, not all beta testers have access to the novelty.

Apparently, the developers are improving the tool before starting initial testing. Therefore, the feature should take a few more months to arrive as an update for the general audience on Android and iOS.

It is worth mentioning that WhatsApp has support for using two accounts on the same device. This is the ideal tool for those who want to have different numbers for personal and professional use, but without the need to use two phones.
