A large part of our communication takes place through WhatsApp, and this includes services and companies. Because of this, chances are you have some pretty important messages on the app. Now, it will be easier to consult them: WhatsApp Web has gained the option to search for messages by date.
When you enter a conversation and click on the magnifying glass icon, WhatsApp Web shows you a field to type text. With the novelty, there will also be a calendar icon. By clicking on it, you can select a specific date and show the conversation on that day.
WhatsApp has been used more and more by several companies for customer service, sending bills and invoices, scheduling appointments, and more.
Searching for dates can help in these cases, as it is easier to check what was said on a specific day, without having to remember the content of the message, or scrolling through the entire history of the conversation.
For now, only in WhatsApp Web Beta
The feature was first spotted in October, still in development. Now, it appears in beta version 2.2348.50 of the web messenger.
This tool is rolling out slowly — if you’re a user enrolled in the testing program and haven’t had access yet, it’s possible that the feature will appear to you in the next few days. For now, there is no prediction of when the new form of search will be released to users of the stable version.
To take part in the beta testing of WhatsApp Web, access the app, enter the settings and go to the “Help” page. There, there is a “Join Beta” button. Just bookmark it to have access to the features that are in the experimental phase.
On WhatsApp for Android and iOS, searching for messages by date has been around since 2020. The path is pretty much the same: join a conversation, select the search, tap the calendar icon, and choose the day you want.
