The long-awaited widget is coming to your Mac menu bar with Sequoia 15.2

Apple surprises with its new beta software
Apple once again elicits surprise with the release of its new beta version of macOS, iOS and iPadOS. Although the focus is mainly on artificial intelligence, another element caught my attention: a new weather widget.

Weather at your fingertips
Originally discovered by 9to5Mac, this new widget is shown as a small clip depicting the current temperature near the time indicator, Wi-Fi signal and battery indications. Just one click to the widget shows the weather for the next few hours at the place of your Mac. If you are adventurous, you can also type in the widget and know temperatures in other parts of the world.

Quick access to the weather
For those who would like to go into detail about the weather, the widget also contains the link to the weather application. One has to note, of course, that as features are often different in developer betas, they may change sometimes as well. Hence there is no certainty that the weather widget that comes with this release will also be available in the final release.

Still, the idea that Apple has such a widget in the works is encouraging. It’s a primitive aspect, but it does provide the convenience. In fact, who wouldn’t prefer not to go to a weather site or invoke another app when ‘a small widget in the conveniently accessible menu bar can do that same thing?’

Activating the weather widget
If you are using beta version 15.2 you have to enable the weather widget in the system settings and control center. There you go and go down the page to Weather and click on the Menu Bar in the tool bar.

But before you do that, do not exclude Playgrounds and integration with ChatGPT because these are some of the AI aspects that are most innovative.
