OnePlus confirms compatibility with 50W wireless charging on the OnePlus 9 Pro. The Chinese manufacturer’s flagship will be able to go from 0 to 100% in just 43 minutes of charging.

We were talking about it a few days ago. According to information from the renowned leaker Ishan Agarwal, the OnePlus 9 Pro would be equipped with a 50W wireless fast charging. A tantalizing promise if it is. Imagine that the insider has still seen right, since OnePlus has just confirmed support for the 50W fast wireless charging on the OnePlus 9 Pro.
Pete Lau, the founder and CEO of the brand, has just published a short video on his official Twitter account in which we can see the charging speed of the OnePlus 9 Pro in front of an iPhone. Thus, the OnePlus 9 Pro would be able to go from 0 to 100% battery in just 43 minutes of charging,while the iPhone saves only 72% battery for the same charging time.
Even more impressively, it should be noted that this is the 50W wireless fast charging,while the iPhone in question is wired. This says a lot about the power and efficiency of the wireless charging developed by the manufacturer. To make this performance possible, OnePlus uses a two-cell battery,introduced for the first time on the OnePlus 8T.

Considerable efforts to avoid overheating
Indeed, each cell is charged at 25W simultaneously. In addition, and in order to avoid overheating the smartphone during charging, OnePlus uses a higher voltage power supply,which produces less heat than the use of higher amps. As the manufacturer explains, several modifications have been made to the OnePlus 9 Pro’s battery to more effectively dissipate the heat generated by the rapid charge, such as a thicker copper sheet and a larger heat sink.
Moreover, and as our colleagues at The Verge explain, OnePlus’ wireless charging station carries a small fan,again to avoid overheating. The device seems to make a little noise according to their testimonies, enough to create some noise if you keep the charger on your nightstand. Note that the manufacturer has not yet disclosed the price of its 50W wireless fast charging station. As a reminder, the official presentation of The OnePlus 9, 9 Pro and 9R is expected on March 23, 2021.
