At the end of 2020, Huawei sold the Honor subsidiary to a Chinese consortium of forty companies for 12.8 billion euros. Independent of Huawei, Honor escapes US sanctions imposed by Donald Trump in 2019. The Chinese firm has therefore negotiated a partnership with Qualcomm to integrate Snapdragon processors, including the powerful SoC Snapdragon 888, into its next smartphones. In addition, Honor has reportedly managed to negotiate the return of the Play Store, and valuable Google apps, to its smartphones.

Building on its partnerships with Google and Qualcomm, Honor is currently working on the release ofa new range of smartphones under the name Magic. At a press briefing with Chinese media on March 19, 2021, George Zhao, CEO of Honor, leaked new information about the brand’s upcoming devices, reports MyFixGuide.

Honor prepares a range of premium smartphones to compete with Huawei

“The best way to respect Huawei is for Honor to grow even better,” Zhao said. According to the executive, the future Honor Magic will be able to surpass the range of Huawei P and Mate. “IfHonor wants to make an impact on the high-end market, it will position itself and make Magic the best product in the industry, surpassing the level of Huawei P and Mate,” stresses the CEO.

“We are perhaps the largest start-up in China,” the executive said. Freed from the restrictions imposed by its former parent company, Honor is determined to take advantage of the technologies provided by Qualcomm and Google. The brand’s next devices will be high-end oriented. Until now, Huawei has prevented Honor from venturing into premium in order to avoid competition with its own flagships. The Magic range of smartphones will be the best in the game thanks to better image processing features. George Zhao attributes these new developments to the contribution of partners such as Google and Qualcomm.

The future Honor Magic are currently under development and will arrive by the end of the year. It is rumored that the next jewels of Honor will be announced next July. We’ll tell you more as soon as possible. While you’re waiting for more information, please comment in the comments below.
