Huawei would not be ready to unveil the P50. According to a source close to the case, the Chinese manufacturer postponed its presentation until May 2021. It is even possible that we have to wait until June. As always, the U.S. embargo would be the cause of this delay: the firm would have difficulty supplying itself with components.
According to initial reports, the Huawei P50 should have been unveiled in March, with a launch scheduled for April 17. It seems that the manufacturer’s plans have changed somewhat, since we still have no news of its new flagship. And for good reason: his presentation would have been delayed by several months. A leak claims that the future smartphone will not be revealed until May 2021. Even this deadline is uncertain: it is not impossible that we have to wait until June to get an official overview of the phone.
The reason is all found: again, Huawei is suffering the consequences of the embargo imposed by Donald Trump. Joe Biden has no plans to lift his predecessor’s sanctions, despite pressure from suppliers. De facto, the Chinese firm would facedifficulties in sourcing components,as it no longer can buy them from American companies as usual. It would thus have no choice but to delay the launch of the P50 on international markets.

No wonder, then, that Huawei is slow to release an official release date for its next flagship. The manufacturer manages to get around the obstacles imposed, notably by developing HarmonyOS, its own operating system that will be equipped with the P50. But the difficulty is quite different to get the necessary components.

The source does not detail which in particular are a problem for Huawei. Its (very) large photo sensor should in theory not be part of the list, since it is designed by Sony. However, it is difficult to predict when the firm will be able to officially present its smartphone. In the meantime, we can only fall back on the 360 video that reveals its design to wait.
