Samsung will miss out on the Galaxy Note 21 this year due to the shortage of comp…

The Galaxy Note 21 may not be released this year, finally. The CEO of Samsung suggested this at a meeting with investors. He also spoke of the shortage of semiconductors that is slowing down smartphone production.

The Galaxy Note 20

Will you come out, won’t you? The existence or not of the Galaxy Note 21 is a real suspense soap opera. While the various leakers claim to have not spotted any trace of the terminal, Samsung had confirmed its existence. A coup de théâtre today, since the CEO of Samsung himself suggests that the Note 21 would not finally come out this year.

It was during a meeting with investors that DJ Koh, the brand’s big boss, cast doubt on the terminal’s exit, according to Bloomberg:

“The Note series is positioned on the high end in our portfolio. It could be a burden to release two flagships in a year, so it might be difficult to get the Note out. The Note launch window may change, but we expect it to be released next year. »

In this statement, Koh points to the cohabitation with the Galaxy S series. It is true that the range of S21, especially the S21 Ultra, borrows a lot from the Note, especially with the arrival of a stylus compatibility. Waiting a year before releasing a new Note could therefore be a solution for Samsung.

Samsung led by shortage

DJ Koh also spoke about the current semiconductor shortage in the industry, but did not link it to the lack of Note. But it is easy to imagine that the Corréenne firm limits smartphones to ensure constant production.

One might also fear that the absence of Note this year could decide Samsung to abandon the range altogether in favor of the Galaxy S. It must be said that the particularity of the Note, at least at the beginning, was to offer a very large format, which is no longer necessarily the case in 2021. The latest models have not shone with their originality and innovations. Samsung could bet on another terminal for the ultra-high-end market: the Z Fold. The third iteration of its foldable smartphone should, logically, be unveiled later this year.
