Review Samsung Galaxy S22: one-off increments

The Galaxy S22 Ultra made a lot of noise during the renovation of Samsung’s high-end line. This caused the other members of the family to lose a bit of prominence —the Galaxy S22 is one of them. As you might imagine, there hasn’t been a big jump compared to the S21, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have a powerful Android, after all the S22 packs the powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, has a photographic set with good cameras and solid construction.

With a more compact and robust shape, the device has everything to attract those who do not sympathize with the Ultra’s 6.8-inch. Moreover, we must not forget the cost-benefit, which should become attractive in the coming months. To understand the proposal, I used the Galaxy S22 as the main smartphone and shared my experience with it in this review.

The Galaxy S22 was provided by Samsung on loan and will be returned to the company after testing. For more information, visit tecnoblog.net/etica.

Visually, the Galaxy S22 is very similar to its predecessor. The headlight-style camera module and smooth rear with an isolated flash were maintained. In addition to being more rounded, the S22 differs by the finish.

Samsung abandoned the s21’s matte plastic and went on to work with glass in the current generation, a decision that I and many consumers classify as right. Top-of-the-line mobile phone needs a design that suits the category. The frosted glass of the white model, tested here, follows this reasoning and the silver module left the device with a more premium footprint.

In resistance and protection, it offers what we’ve already hoped for: not to gain unwanted marks when straining on the ground, the S22 bets on Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection, and quick contact with liquids and dust should not harm you, since IP68 certification continues here.

Compared to major Android rivals, it can not be said that the S22 is the most attractive in terms of construction. Let’s analyze the Xiaomi 12, device that, in my view, has a beautiful design, but steps on the ball for not having IP68. The Motorola Edge 30 Pro has a more simplistic look and, like the Xiaomi, offers no IP protection against water and dust.

The good footprint of the S22 is another point I wanted to highlight in this review, and the main provider of this is the 6.1-inch screen, same number as the iPhone 13. With ever-larger phones coming close to 7 inches, the S22 is a beautiful option for those who need a compact Android. It fits easily in the hand and the fluidity of the screen, with the rate of 120 Hz, in a way, contributes to this favorable experience.
