The Xiaomi 12S Ultra features a camera with a huge, one-inch sensor. The launch, however, can go further: Xiaomi presented a concept of the phone with an interchangeable lens. Thus, it would be possible to use the smartphone to take even more amazing photos, as if using a mirrorless camera from Leica.
The demonstration came from a post on the Chinese social network Weibo. In a video, Xiaomi unveiled an experimental model of the smartphone released in July. To recap, the great highlight of the Xiaomi 12S Ultra is the 50 MP main camera, which houses the Sony IMX989 1-inch sensor, made in partnership with Leica.
The concept aims to further explore the cell phone sensor. For this, Xiaomi has developed a mechanism that allows to fit a camera lens of the Leica M line.
According to the Android Authority, the experiment was done with the Leica Summilux-M 35 mm lens and f/1.4 aperture. But the modified rear allows to attach other accessories of the German brand. Anyway, all this device offers even more power to the phone, since it would be possible to use professional camera lenses on your own phone.
Unfortunately, this idea has no date to reach the market. After all, it is only a concept to demonstrate the potential of the Xiaomi 12S Ultra. However, it would be nice to have a Xiaomi phone with support for german brand lenses.
In addition to the 50 megapixel triple camera, Xiaomi’s mobile phone brings together other attributes. This is the case of the advanced data sheet led by Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and RAM of up to 12 GB. The smartphone also has storage of up to 512 GB and 4,860 mAh battery with fast recharge of 67 watts.
The screen deserves another attention. At 6.73 inches, the panel has a 120 Hz refresh rate and 2K resolution.
