Apple is finally increasing RAM across the iPhone 16 lineup: Here is the position that can be summed up as follows.
Discovering RAM time
Just like it has never cared to state the battery capacity of its iPhone, Apple does not reveal the RAM size on the new iPhone either. However, it appears that this is not anymore something hidden.
An iPhone for 16 with an option of having a RAM upgrade
This announcement and more were made known at the Glowtime event on the 9th of September where they revealed the iPhone 16 series and highlighted that all models will see a ramp up of their RAM from the previous 6GB to 8GB now. This was known with the help of Apple’s developer tool, Xcode 16, and MacRumors confirmed it with iSWUpdates’s help.
Uniformity across the range
This update appears to be mainly for standard and plus models of iPhone 16 but it also raises the RAM capacity to 8, same to the pro models. This leads to standardization of the range, for example, last year iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max was equipped with 8GB RAM.
“iPhone 16: 8 GB”
“iPhone 16 Plus: The memory available in both the devices is: Ram: 4 GB, Rom: 8 GB
“iPhone 16 Pro: 8 GB”.
“iPhone 16 Pro Max: In that it has 8 GB, it gives users immense ability o store much data at a go as well as the ability to run various programs simultaneously.
An effect on artificial intelligence?
Compounded with the new A18 and A18 Pro integrated circuits, better RAM should contribute to Apple Intelligent processing, Apple’s proprietary Artificial Intelligence system. The power density of this technology is higher and it may be construed as power demanding. AI writer Ryan Morrison noted that Apple Intelligence appear to be quite grandiose even when compared to other AIs that he uses every day.
iPhone 16 series will go on pre-order Friday September 13 and will hit the stores on Friday September 20. We are satisfied with the first results after testing new iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models.
