Apple may be tracking badges to make sure employees are going to work

It seems that Apple is struggling to keep its professionals inside the offices. According to Platformer editor Zoë Schiffer, the American company is tracking its employees’ badges to make sure they are attending workplaces. The goal would be to ensure that employees are present at the apple at least three times a week.

According to the journalist’s tweet, if it becomes clear that the employee was not in the office for the amount of days expected by the company, a series of warnings may be given.

Zoë Schiffer further states that some organizations within the firm have said that there is a chance of layoffs in more severe cases. However, this does not appear to be a general company policy.

This seems to be another step in apple’s long journey of trying to get back to normalcy post-pandemic. Apple began preparing for the return of its employees as early as 2020, but eventually admitted that the comeback would eventually not happen before 2021.

However, the return to the offices of the iPhone owner was postponed again after criticism from professionals in 2022. Finally, in May of the same year, the company felt that the moment offered security for the return to face-to-face work three times a week.

As an addendum, the same journalist said Elon Musk sent Twitter contributors an email. In it, the CEO pointed out that “office is not optional” and pointed out that the social network’s building in San Francisco was “half empty” on March 21.

Apple wants to avoid layoffs
Even with a possible threat to shut down employees if they don’t show up for in-person work, Apple still seems to be struggling not to perform layoffs like other companies.

According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, the creator of the iPhone decided to freeze the availability of new vacancies for several areas. Thus, it would not increase its payroll and prevent people from being cut.

Speaking of cash, the same story reported that Apple has changed the bonus payment for employees. This means that instead of paying the bonus in the months of April and October, the brand will now pay only at the time of Halloween.
