While Huawei has just launched the HarmonyOS 2.0 beta, many of the brand’s smartphones still work on EMUI 11, the manufacturer’s Android 10-based overlay. This is particularly the case for The Huawei P30 and P30 Pro. After a deployment of EMUI 11 on both devices in China in December 2020, the overlay finally arrived in France towards the end of February 2021 on both smartphones.

Since its launch in April 2019, the Huawei P30 Pro has hosted three overlays, going from EMUI 9.1 to EMUI 10.0, EMUI 10.1 and finally EMUI 11.0. And no problems to report. Until now. As our colleagues at the Huawei Central site report, several Huawei P30 Pro owners have reported major autonomy problems since the deployment of EMUI 11, like this user on Reddit.

I have a Huawei P30 Pro and I just did an update to EMUI 11. I noticed that my battery was draining faster since then. Does this have to do with the latest update?” the user asks. “Inoticed the same thing. The battery drains much faster. Even so, since the EMUI update I’ve disabled “smart battery management,” which may have made the difference, assumes another user.

EMUI 11 on P30 Pro battery draining? from Huawei

No response from Huawei yet

For some users, therefore, the autonomy of the smartphone no longer even exceeds the day in conventional use (SMS, calls, a little navigation on the Net).  For others, the problem finally subsided after a few days after the installation of EMUI 11. Seeming to have only been affected by American users, several Chinese owners reported the same damage.

So far, Huawei has not made an official statement regarding this battery problem, potentially caused by poor software optimization of EMUI 11. In any case, it is likely that the manufacturer will react if these problems affect more users. And you, are you concerned about these autonomy concerns on your Huawei P30 Pro?
