A busy start to the year for Samsung, which has already launched its Galaxy S21. What design for the Galaxy A72?
Visuals of the smartphone have already leaked, so we have a good overview of what the Galaxy A72 will look like. As with Samsung’s latest high-end, it packs a central punch into the screen to house the front-facing photo sensor. Inevitably, the edges surrounding the slab are a little thicker than on the more premium models of the brand. On the back, no surprise either with a photo block located in the top left corner. This contains the four modules that make up the camera as well as the LED Flash. The rear shell of the device is made of plastic and the device is IP67 certified water and dust resistant.

As for the fingerprint reader, it is neither on the back nor on the slice, Samsung has logically opted for a scanner under the screen. Of course, there is a USB-C port and we can be satisfied with Samsung’s choice to keep the 3.5mm jack port to connect a headphones or wired headphones, a connector that tends to disappear from smartphones.
How big is the Galaxy A72?
The smartphone would be equipped with a Super AMOLED screen with a 6.7-inch diagonal. The slab would display a definition of Full HD 2400 x 1080 pixels and a refresh rate of 90 Hz for A72 4G and 120 Hz for A72 5G. It would adopt an extended ratio of 20:9.
What is the galaxy A72’s performance?
The smartphone would be powered by a different SoC depending on whether you opt for the 4G or 5G model. In the first case, the Galaxy A72 would run under a Snapdragon 720G, a mid-range chip from Qualcomm. While the more expensive and compatible 5G model would be entitled to a faster SoC, the Snapdragon 750G. Samsung is saving money on chips, with some competitors offering a Snapdragon 765G on their devices this pricing positioning.

Some technical specifications of the Galaxy A72 camera have leaked. The 64MP main sensor with f/1.8 aperture and phase-detection autofocus would be accompanied by an ultra wide-angle lens (123 degrees) of 12MP, f/2.2, a 5MP, f/2.4 macro lens and a dedicated 2MP depth-of-field sensor, f/2.2. Another source refers to the presence of an 8MP telephoto lens allowing an x2 optical zoom in place of the depth sensor.
For video, 4K recording would be limited to 30 frames per second. A super slow-motion mode at 960 fps is also planned, in only 1080p. At the front, the 32MP and f/2.2 selfie sensor will be able to shoot up to 4K at 30 frames per second.
What is the Android version of the Galaxy A72?
The Galaxy A72 will be launched under One UI 3.1, Samsung’s android-basedsoftware overlay, the latest major update to Google’s mobile OS. Samsung’s home interface is considered one or the best in the Android ecosystem. One UI 3.1 makes some improvements over One UI 3.0, such as the ability to delete an object from a photo, a Director’s View option to shoot with both the main camera and the front camera, the automatic framing of the video during a video call on Google Duo, or the addition of Google Discover for the home screen news section.
