Honor X10 official: 5G, screen 90 Hz, less than 250 euros… but still no Play Stor…

Honor has just unveiled the Honor X10 in China. The smartphone allows access to 5G for less than 250 euros and offers premium features such as the 90 Hz screen or a triple 40MP photo sensor. Enough to catch up in the absence of Google applications, especially the Play Store.

Honor has just unveiled the Honor X10 in China. The smartphone was expected in two versions including a Pro version like the Honor X9 and X9 Pro. But finally the brand only unveiled a model of the smartphone in four reflective colors. What makes Huawei’s new smartphone particularly attractive is thatit is becoming the de facto cheapest entry ticket for 5G technology thanks to its Kirin 820 chip compatible with ultra-fast networks.

The smartphone is indeed offered as early as 1899 Chinese Yuan, which gives about 244.09 euros at the current price (1 Renminbi – 0.13 euros). A price that ridicules, you will understand, the cheapest competing proposals. Notably the POCO F2 Pro which has just been unveiled by Xiaomi’s subsidiary and which is offered in France from May 25th from 699.90 euros or the OnePlus 8 (699 euros).

In addition to the Kirin 820 processor, the smartphone carries 8GB of RAM and 128GB of built-in storage (UFS 2.1). The Kirin 820 is itself a mid-range chip designed by HiSilicon, a subsidiary of Huawei. Compared to what Qualcomm or Mediatek does, it is a chip engraved in 7 nm (for now by TSMC) and that directly integrates a 5G modem on the same die. It is thus compatible with 9 5G bands and can reach a download speed of 1003 Mbps in 5G.

It also has other features that even more premium alternatives don’t have to blush about.

This is particularly the case for its NPU enclave dedicated to artificial intelligence (Da Vinci). This allows it to have advanced processing applications while consuming 73% compared to the previous generation. The performance is also there with a rather fast 8 core configuration, with an average clock frequency of 2.36 GHz. Multi-core performance is up 27%. As for the Mali-G57 GPU, it outperformed by 38% while reducing consumption by 39%.

This makes it a real treat for games, especially since the screen (6.63″ LCD IPS technology) is equipped with the 90Hz refresh rate for smoother actions. For more reactive controls the sampling of the touch layer was also pushed to 190 Hz. Just with the 5G and the 90 Hz screen we already have two completely new features at this price. But Honor doesn’t stop there and also offers a decent photo part, and a rather comfortable battery.

The main sensor is a triple module with a 40MP main sensor, an 8MP wide-angle sensor and a 2MP macro sensor to adapt to any situation. The 40Mp main sensor benefits from the group’s photo expertise. We have a very wide sensor with an RVVB filter that can capture more light, especially in low light conditions. It’s the same as on smartphones like the Honor V30 Pro and the Huawei Mate Xs. Selfie side, thesmartphone offers, in a retractable drawer, a 16 MPx sensor.

The battery displays 4300 mAh which should ensure an excellent battery life. It also boasts a 22.5W Super FastCharge fast charging system. Its predecessor, the X9, carried a 4000 mAh battery with 10W fast charging.

On the biometric side, the smartphone incorporates a fingerprint sensor on the slice (it can unlock the screen in less than 0.3 seconds). Finally, it is compatible with WiFi connectivity 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 5.1 and offers, icing on the cake, a 3.5 mm audio jacksocket. The smartphone is available in four colors Racing Blue, Light Speed Silver, Burning Power Orange, and Speed Black.

The Honor X10 will be available in China from May 26, 2020 at the following price:

  • 6/64 GB: 1899 Yuan (244.09 euros)
  • 6/128 GB: 2199 Yuan (282.90 euros)
  • 8/128 GB: 2399 Yuan (308.66 euros)

At the moment its availability date in France is not known. But the brand, true to its habits, is expected to hold an international launch at a later date. What do you think of the Honor X10? Share your thoughts in the comments!
