The LG G8X ThinQ was officially presented at THE IFA 2019 in Berlin. With Dual Screen, the smartphone has a second screen, as large and as good as the main slab. A system that can find its usefulness for multi-tasking.
LG took advantage of the IFA 2019 in Berlin to officially announce its G8X ThinQ as well as a new version of its Dual Screen technology. As with the LG V50 ThinQ presented six months ago at the MWC in Barcelona, the LG G8X ThinQ is a standard high-end smartphone, which is compatible with a shell transforming it into a device with two screens.
LG G8X ThinQ: a foldable screen smartphone no, but with two screens yes
On the technical side, we’re still classic: 6.4-inch FullVision OLED display with FHD definition and ratio of 19.5:9, SoC Snapdragon 855 coupled with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage space (extendable up to 2TB via microSD), 4000 mAh battery, dual 12MP OIS photo sensor – 13 MP wide angle, 32MP front module, fingerprint reader under the screen, 3.5mm jack port , stereo speakers, IP 68 certification, Bluetooth 5.0 and Android 9 Pie.
The second screen is identical to the main slab, both in terms of size, technology and quality. Inevitably, the device manages the multi-tasking, that’s where it offers its full interest. You can have a “passive” app that doesn’t require action on your part on a screen (Google Maps, Netflix or YouTube for example) while sending messages on WhatsApp for example. What we can already do today with our Android smartphones with the screen partition. When the hull is closed, the screen displays notifications and practical information.
LG has not yet announced a release date or price for this G8X ThinQ. It is also not known whether the mobile will be available in France, where LG has partially withdrawn for several months. The only indication shared by the South Korean manufacturer is that it will be launched in the fourth quarter of 2019.
