LG has just officialized the V50, a new high-end 5G smartphone to say the least original: it comes with a shell that allows it to add a second screen! An amazing solution that probably allows this device to make a name for itself in the wake of two consecutive releases of foldable smartphones – the Galaxy Fold of Samsung, and the Huawei Mate X. Alas, we already know that this smartphone – like all the others of the brand this year – will not be marketed in France.
LG has just unveiled the LG V50 5G, a smartphone for which you might think a little too quickly that everything is in the name – namely that its main asset is compatibility with 5G networks. What nenni! This smartphone under Snapdragon 855 is much more than that, it represents an intermediate step between the ZTE Axon-type two-screen smartphone and foldable smartphones – although going that far would probably venture into murky waters.
LG introduces the V50, a 5G smartphone with a strange shell with a screen
The LG V50 5G is a powerful flagship with, you were told one of the first SoC engraved in 7nm, for reduced energy consumption and increasing performance. To connect to 5G networks, LG adopts the Qualcomm solution with the X50 modem. This component, one of the very first commercially available, tends to heat up – to avoid unpleasantness, LG has designed a rather wide water vapour pipeline, which almost completely dissipates the heat.
Its 6.4-inch OLED QHD display features a fingerprint sensor. Inside the terminal, there are 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The smartphone also has a triple photo sensor, consisting of two 12MP sensors and a last 16MP wide-angle. On the front, the V50 is equipped with an 8- and 5MP dual photo sensor.
Unsurprisingly, it’s the smartphone’s protective shell that catches everyone’s eye. The accessory features a 6.1-inch FHD display that transforms the V50 into a mini gaming console. LG offers an alternative to foldable smartphones, such as the Galaxy Fold or the Huawei Mate X. The V50, like the rest of this year’s future aircraft, will not be released on the French market. LG France has decided to take a break on smartphones.
