The LG Wing is LG’s next “revolutionary” smartphone that wants to shake up the market with a new two-screen format. While it remained very mysterious, the terminal leaked today in a video, confirming both its existence and its curious concept.
LG is working on a very curious smartphone concept. The manufacturer wants to revolutionize the usual format of smartphones with the Wing. While the terminal has been rumored for a few months now, it is now showing up in a first video of Android Authority.
The LG Wing wants to move away from the usual format of smartphones, namely a simple black rectangle. LG is thinking about a two-screen phone a little special. Instead of closing in on themselves as on Microsoft’s Surface Duo, the Korean manufacturer is banking on one screen that rotates on the other. Thus, the user never has two full views, but an extension of the main.
Extend the main display
In fact, how could the thing be used? This first video that shows the smartphone is short, 10 seconds, but already gives us an overview. It reveals the phone used as a GPS. The main screen shows the map, while the second, smaller one, displays the music player. In the video, the driver receives a call, and the call appears on the secondary screen, not coming to interfere with the GPS.
With this T-shape, we can imagine many possible applications. For example, it’s easy to think that the secondary display can be used as a keyboard when you type a message. In-game, touch controls can also be placed on this small screen, leaving a full display for your game.
However, this second screen can have a major disadvantage: thickening the phone. It remains to be seen how LG will fare on this point. Rumors are rare about this Wing, which remains very secret. We only talk about a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 or 765G processor. For display, hallway noises refer to a 6.8-inch main screen and a 4-inch secondary screen.
And you, do you see the usefulness of such a format? Would you be interested? Tell us in the comments!
