LG Wing: the brand will unveil the strange smartphone with rotating screen on September 14, 2020

LG is about to lift the veil on the LG Wing, an amazing smartphone built around a double rotating screen. The South Korean manufacturer has just sent out invitations for an online conference scheduled for September 14, 2020.

In a press release issued on September 2, 2020, LG confirms the arrival of its first smartphone with rotating screen, the LG Wing. As a reminder, LG’s revolutionary smartphone had already appeared in a video on the run. The brand accompanies its release with a rather enticing teaser video showing the design and functionality of the smartphone (see below).

With the Explorer project, LG is testing unexpected smartphone designs

LG explains that the smartphone is part ofa new range of terminals called “Explorer. This experimental range allows LG to test unusual designs. LG tease “devices that offer different and as yet unexplored experiences, a strategy that tackles an unknown territory of the industry”. In the coming years, the firm is expected to develop more phones of this ilk. LG had already made a point with smartphones rather amazing, even ahead of their time. These include the LG G8X ThinQ, a dual-screen device unveiled at IFA 2019.

“LG created the Explorer project in response to the diverse needs of today’s smartphone users. […] The initiative aims to explore and breathe life into as yet unexplored areas and marks the implementation of a new strategy for LG in the smartphone market,” explains LG. The firm points out that the smartphones in the Explorer range are very different from the devices sold in its catalogue, such as the LG Velvet.  Absent from the French market, LG should not in any case market the LG Wing in France.

In any case, the official presentation of the LG Wing will take place on Monday, September 14, 2020 at 4:00 p.m., French time, on LG’s YouTube channel as well as on the brand’s Facebook page. We’ll give you an appointment that day to discover the new form factor developed by LG. What do you think of the Explorer project? We are waiting for your opinion in the comments.
