Midjourney launches a new version of its image editor with stunning functionality

A sign of that expansion is seen here by the inclusion of Midjourney.
Midjourney, the recognized image editor, has just released a significant update of its tool. This extension, previously released to a small subset of users, can now edit external images within Midjourney and has robust moderation and privacy guarantees.

With it we’re a step closer to a fellow competitor.
This new feature takes Midjourney way beyond simply tweaking what an AI generated image has produced, and instead places it in direct competition with what would be considered photo editing software on par with Photoshop or Affinity.

“We’re testing two new features today: our photo-retouch feature for images uploaded in the project and the image-repainting feature to experiment with material, surfaces and light. The glasses can be used with all of our high end features like style references, character references and templates as well, it said.

How does it work in practice?
As an instance, you could upload an image of a living room and then have Midjourney bring in or subtract furniture, change the material or hue of the wall, and even dim or brighten the space making it seem like the photo was taken at night.

Limited availability
But Midjourney said they are now clear on the fact that external image will only be available for the members with annual subscription and members who have subscribed for one year and those who have uploaded at least 10000 images. This feature is also only available on Midjourney 6.1.

AI at the service of art
This ambition is not exclusive to photos; Midjourney looks to expand. The software can accept sketches as written by hand by the users and the AI will make it look real.

However, professionals such as graphic designers and artists may still desire to stick to traditional graphic tools to achieve semi-accurate editing, most of which is met by Midjourney’s effort. Which we already saw is surprisingly good at guessing what regions to modify once you start using prompts.
