Xiaomi unveils two new smartphones: the Poco X3 Pro and the Poco F3. Both smartphones benefit from very nice technical records and extremely aggressive prices, according to the tradition of the brand. Based on high-flying performance, they will be sold between 199 euros and 399 euros depending on the versions and promotions in progress. Presentations.
The Poco brand is now one of the most commercially aggressive. It offers a lot of them, for a budget that remains very tight. A positioning that reminds us of the great hours of OnePlus and Xiaomi. Both brands have made a name for themselves thanks to a great value for money. In recent months, both brands have been less aggressive. But, fortunately, Poco skilfully took over. And the brand will continue this year.

This is confirmed again today, 22 March 2021. Xiaomi has, as expected, introduced two new smartphones for its alternative brand. They are called Poco X3 Pro and Poco F3. The first is a “mid-range premium” model (more really mid-range, but not quite high-end either), while the second is definitely a “flagship killer”. And even, more precisely, an “Mi 11 killer.” And we’ll of course explain why.
Poco F3: as powerful as a 2020 flagship
So let’s start these presentations with the Poco F3. This is a 5G smartphone with a technical card that has nothing to envy to some smartphones sold two or three times more expensive. It is equipped with a 6.67-inch AMOLEDdisplay. Definition Full HD. Refreshment rate 120 Hz. Sampling frequency 360 Hz. HDR10 compatibility. Announced brightness of 900 nits. Gorilla Glass Protection 5. Built-in fingerprint reader.
Beneath the screen is the Snapdragon 870,Qualcomm’s brand new chipset. The Poco F3 is the second smartphone to take advantage of it after the Mi 10S, formalized a few days ago. The Snapdragon 870 is an improved version of the Snapdragon 865 (and more powerful, theoretically, than the Snapdragon 865). It is compatible with the Snapdragon X55 external 5G modem. It comes with 6 or 8GB of RAM and 128 or 256GB of storage (with no extension possible). To control the heat of the SoC, the Poco F3 is equipped with a technology called LiquidCool. We’ll know more about her during our tests.
On the photo side, there are three sensors in the back and a selfie sensor in the front. The main sensor is a 48-megapixel model with phase detection autofocus and lens opening at f/1.79. Secondary sensors are 8 and 2-megapixelmodels, with wide-angle lenses opening to f/2.2 and macro lens opening at f/2.4, respectively. The second is equipped with a standard autofocus. You’ll notice the lack of optical zoom and optical stabilizer.
The selfie sensor is a 20-megapixel model with lens opening to f/2.45. To power all this, the Poco F3 is equipped with a 4250 mAh battery compatible with 33 watt fast charging (a suitable charger is delivered in the box). Finally, two Dolby Atmos certified speakers complete this relatively rich set. We’ll talk about prices at the end of this article.
Poco X3 Pro: the best competitor of the Redmi Note 10 Pro?
Let’s move on to the Poco X3 Pro, an equally interesting product, especially considering the prices. The Poco X3 Pro is not a lightweight Poco F3. This is a phone that will focus more on autonomy than pure power. You find a powerful SoC, certainly, but less greedy. And most importantly, you find a more generous battery. Let’s get into the details.
The SoC in question is the all-new all-beautiful Snapdragon 860. This is the first time that this octo-core of Qualcomm is announced in a smartphone. It’s a component that looks like an optimized Snapdragon 855. So expect the performance of a flagship in 2019, with a gain in terms of energy savings. The Snapdragon 860 is not 5G compatible, but only 4G. But we don’t blame it, given the extent of 5G networks in France. It comes with 6 or 8GB of RAM and 128 or 256GB of storage, depending on the version.
The Poco X3 Pro’s battery has a capacity of 5160 mAh. So it’s much bigger than the Poco F3 (we assume the lack of 5G modem has something to do with it). It is compatible fast charging 33 watts (and the compatible charger is provided, here too). On the photo side, the Poco X3 Pro takes over the equipment of the Poco F3 (48-8-2-megapixel sensors in the rear and 20-megapixel selfie sensor at the front) and adds a fourth module to the rear of 2 megapixels. It is used to calculate depths for portrait mode (and assists the autofocus of the main sensor).
The Poco X3 Pro’s screen features a 6.67-inch DotDisplay LCDslab. Definition Full HD. Refreshment rate 120 Hz. Sampling frequency 240 Hz. Compatible HDR10. Announced brightness of 450 nits. Gorilla Glass 6 protection (not 5, like the Poco F3). Built-in fingerprint reader. Finally, two Dolby Atmos-compatible speakers complete the package.
Very aggressive prices
Here are the technical sheets of Poco’s two new smartphones. It remains to be seen when they will be available and at what price! The Poco X3 Pro will be the first to arrive. It will be available on March 26 (weekend). The Poco F3, meanwhile, will arrive a few days later, on March 30 (early next week). The Poco X3 Pro will be available for 249 euros in a 6-128GB version and 299 euros in an 8-256GB version. The Poco F3 will be offered at 349 euros and 399 euros, with the same configurations.
Note, however, that both smartphones will receive a 50 euro discount during the first three days of their respective marketing. March 26-29 for the Poco X3 Pro and March 30-April 2 for the Poco F3. This brings the Poco X3 Pro and Poco F3 back to 6-128GB under the 200 euro and 300 euros, respectively. These are extremely aggressive prices that will certainly hurt the competition as much (Oppo, Realme, Vivo, Samsung) as other Xiaomi brands, notably Redmi which presented its Redmi Note 10 earlier this month.
