When manufacturers deploy updates on their devices, they do so in stages. They usually start with a small group of users before deploying them more widely. Not all users receive the update at the same time. The reason for this step-by-step deployment is that they can limit the number of users who are affected by bugs.
That’s exactly what happened with the Android 11 update deployed on the OnePlus North, since OnePlus had to temporarily pause the deployment of its update after many users reported significant bugs. Android 11 with Oxygen OS 11 had started being rolled out last week on the OnePlus North.
OnePlus is working on a fix for the North
Users will have to be patient again,as it will be necessary to wait for a fix before OnePlus decides to resume rolling out the update. The owners of OnePlus North have been waiting for this new version for more than 5 monthsnow. The OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro received the Android 11 update last October.
Users who received the update complained of problems such as abnormal battery discharge, slow charging, and the inability to access apps they had previously locked using a code. If you have already installed the new version, you will have to wait for the fix if you encounter these bugs.
Your smartphone should normally notify you with a notification if an update is deployed, but you can go manually to check the settings if it’s already available.
- Visit your smartphone’s Settings menu
- Go to the “System” and then “System Update” section
- The phone should automatically search for an update
- If it’s available, all you have to do is tap “Download the Update” and follow the on-screen instructions
- Make sure you have enough battery first (OnePlus recommends at least 30%) before launching the operation, which can be quite long if your connection is bad.
