Samsung already has internal time to create processor PCs and mobile

Samsung has assembled an internal team that will devote itself to developing processors for computers and mobile devices, according to Business Korea. Thus, the South Korean company hired Rahul Tuli, a former AMD development professional, to lead the team. One of the first projects can be launched in 2025.

It is important to point out that Samsung has been working with arm company for its advanced chips, but it is not now that the South Korean gives indications that it intends to launch a PC with Exynos processor. Setting up a time exclusively for cpu planning and creation internally would be the beginning.

In this way, the company would have full control over all stages of production. Something its competitor, Apple, has had since leaving Intel to take care of manufacturing its own SoC.

It is worth remembering that at the end of 2022, Samsung’s LSI Systems Division launched the AP Solutions Development Team together with the Mobile Experience Division (MX) to optimize application processor (APs). From there, members began conducting advanced research on next-generation chips.

According to MacRumours, the first AP of this wave received the nickname “Galaxy Chip”, and could hit the market in 2025. However, it would still be based on arm technology, as the South Korean has recently begun work on product development.

Will you go now?
This is not the first time Samsung has planned to manufacture its CPUs internally. Since 2010, the brand has been investing and evaluating teams to take the idea forward. However, due to several factors, the company ended up abandoning several projects.

For example, South Korea canceled its proposal to create cores for Exynos and laid off about 290 people in 2019. At the time, she said the need to remain competitive in the global market caused the firm to transition research and development teams in the United States.

However, it may be that this time things go forward, because there is optimism in the market. An industry official reported that the company “will be able to increase the completion level of its Galaxy Chip if it successfully develops a CORE CPU. It will be able to bring its own CPU in 2027 if the development is carried out as planned.”
