Samsung Galaxy S25 could opt for a new chip, not Snapdragon

MediaTek chip may feature in Samsung’s future flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S25.
The last leak came from an unusual place – Google’s DeepMind site – and it speaks of the next Samsung Galaxy S25 series featuring a MediaTek chip.

This is an unusual leak since the DeepMind blog is actually focused on the design of the AlphaChip and the creation of processors for the integration of AI. Nevertheless, a single intermediate sentence implies that in the next Samsung smartphone, this company can use a MediaTek chip.

They stated that MediaTek, which is one of the world’s largest chip designing companies, was using the AlphaChip to speed up the production of its newest and best chips including the Dimensity Flagship 5G used in Samsung mobile phones. “MediaTek, one of the world’s leading chip designing companies, has further expanded the AlphaChip to expand their most advanced chipsets such as the Dimensity Flagship 5G used in the Samsung mobile phones — enhancing the power, performance and surface area of the chips,” explain Goldie and Mirhoseini.

Nonetheless, reversing to the original publication of this passage, there is no more a reference to the Dimensity chip or Samsung. Slider and graph figures imply that the information was removed from this page probably due to rapid editing of the page.

Is transferring leadership a strategic change for Samsung?
This change could mean that Samsung or MediaTek are not keen to release this information yet or the discussions are still under way between Samsung and Qualcomm for the inclusion of better snapdragon processors in all Galaxy S25 future phones.

Still, for the past couple of months, Samsung has not been shy using MediaTek chips as exemplified by the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra and S10 Plus which uses the Dimensity 9300+ chip.
