Xbox Cloud Gaming already dominates games in the cloud, well ahead of Nvidia and PlayStation

In a report released by the UK Competition and Market Authority (CMA), the entity pointed out that Microsoft dominates the cloud gaming industry. However, the difference is much greater than we thought. According to the data presented on Wednesday (8), the lead is about 60% to 70%. This puts the owner of Xbox Cloud Gaming far ahead of brands like Nvidia, PlayStation and Amazon.

The authority’s initial text is not focused on presenting the surprising numbers, but rather the intention to owe Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard. However, with a closer look, it is possible to take the information through the appendix of the communiqué.

And it’s amazing how redmond’s company leads the way.

What is interesting is that according to the CMA report, the data is global and not only from the UK.

The list below summarizes the cloud gaming market in the year 2022:

Xbox Cloud Gaming: 60-70%
Nvidia GeForce Now: 10-20%
PlayStation Cloud Gaming: 10-20%
Amazon Luna: 0-5%
Google Stadia: 0-5%
For comparison, by 2021, Microsoft, Sony and Nvidia virtually shared industry leadership. Even Google’s game streaming service had an interesting share of almost 10% of the market. Of course, that was before the search giant announced the closure of Stadia.

Either way, the change in a matter of 12 months was huge. Consecrating the Xbox house as a real force in the cloud gaming area.

Cloud gaming is already a success for those who experience the project
The streaming gaming industry is still crawling, however, it is already possible to claim that it is a success. First for the reason that so many companies want a slice of this pie, offering more and more options to the public. Second, because technology is increasingly competent, delivering services with little lag and easy access.

Amazon Luna, for example, gave the faces in late 2020, working more as an alternative for those who do not want to purchase a console. Even though it is available in a few countries, the platform is interesting for those who are already prime subscribers.

Nvidia GeForce Now brings an interesting catalog with recent hits such as A Plague Tale: Requiem and Marvel: Midnight Suns.

Xbox Cloud Gaming is still king, since it has been available since 2021. With a Game Pass Ultimate subscription, the user can enjoy the games from the service library over an internet connection.
