Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro are released with new Leica lenses and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2

Xiaomi presented this last Sunday the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro smartphones, its new premium phones. In China, the models are already in pre-sale, with deliveries starting on Wednesday (14).

As previously disclosed, the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro will be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, unveiled in November. Following the announcement of unsurprising specifications, these smartphones will have a set of cameras made in partnership with Leica.

Xiaomi has not brought major developments in its premium “base”. The highlights among the novelties in Xiaomi 13 are in their cameras. The teletarget sensor went from 5 MP (f/2.4) to 10 MP (f/2.0) on the new smartphone. This new camera has 3.2x optical zoom and optical image stabilizer (OIS) — slowing down shakes when recording photos.

The ultra-angle lens now has 12 MP, in the Xiaomi 12 was 13 MP (an indifferent change). Its capture angle is 120º and has an aperture of f/2.2.

The main sensor (angular) continues with 50 MP, with the same features of OIS and PDAF, this is the technology that allows the camera to focus faster on the object to be photographed.

All three rear cameras have lenses manufactured by Leica, one of the leading manufacturers of this type of equipment in the world. The selfie camera (punch hole on the screen) has 16 MP, the same setting used in the 13 Pro.

The 4,500 mAh battery is the same as the Xiaomi 12, with support for fast charging of 67 W wired and 50 W wireless.

The AMOLED screen of the Xiaomi 13 has the same settings as the Pro version, only changing the size and resolution — 6.36 inches with Full HD+ on the base model and 6.73 inches with Quad HD+ on the 13 Pro.

The screen has 120 Hz refresh rate, maximum brightness of 1,900 nits, HDR 10+, Dolby Vision and HLG support. On the sound part, the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro rely on Dolby Atmos.

The camera configuration of the Xiaomi 13 Pro continues with three 50 MP cameras, but the main sensor is now the Sony IMX989 measuring 1 inch. This equipment is used in the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, but the differential is also in relying on Leica lenses.

The other cameras (telephoto and ultra-angular) have automatic focus, however the telephoto uses the most advanced PDAF technology.

Both the Xiaomi 13 and the Xiaomi 13 Pro can shoot at 8K at 24 fps. It is still possible to shoot at 4K 24 fps, 30 fps or 60 fps. Recording at 1080p, it is possible to reach 960 fps.

It will be interesting to see the results of the images of xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro with the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Qualcomm promises that your chip will be able to more easily identify elements of a scene, such as the sky, sea or grass. With this, the image adjustments should be more accurate.
