As of November 2021, app notes on the Google Play Store will vary by user region. With the update to the virtual app marketplace assessment system, each will see different scores that change depending on their personal location. In 2022, Google will extend this change to hardware: owners of mobile phones, tablets, Chromebook, or smartwatches will have apps with different notes between devices.
For the company, the update allows assessments to become a “more personalized and indicative experience than each user expects.” The update, expected to be released in approximately three months, will change the notes for users from different regions. Those who browse the Play Store in Brazil will not necessarily have the same note for apps as someone who accesses the store in the USA, for example.
Google updates Play Console, for developers
Google has also released new changes to the Play Console, an app performance dashboard dedicated to developers. App owners can now check the Play Console for feedback for each Android or Chrome OS device: tablet, mobile phone, smartwatch, or Chromebook.
In addition, the company has increased filter options on app performance in the Play Store. The update allows developers to access aggregated application data by date and time period (monthly, weekly, journal).
Another novelty is the button to download statistics from the apps in CSV spreadsheets. You can, through filters, download and compare all daily grade averages for a single application and make comparisons.
Note from the Play Store will change according to hardware
In early 2022, Google plans to extend the concept of different reviews to hardware: mobile users, for example, won’t necessarily see the same grade for apps on the Play Store as someone using a Chromebook. “This will also give users a good impression of the kind of experience they can expect for the device they are using,” Google said in a statement.
But Google claims that the developer will have time to adapt to the changes; ten days before the update is released, the company will review the app on the Play Store; If it loses more than 0.2 points on the note, the company will contact the person responsible.
