Motorola chose this Thursday (29) to announce its new line of phones: the Motorola Edge 20 Pro, Motorola Edge 20 and Motorola Edge 20 Lite models. The new generation of the Edge family prioritizes photography: all models bring 108 megapixel main camera. The Pro version goes further by offering periscope camera.
Motorola Edge 20 Pro
As the name suggests, the Motorola Edge 20 Pro is the most advanced model of the trio. The phone features snapdragon 870 chip, 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, plus 6.7-inch OLED screen with full HD+ resolution and 144 Hz refresh rate.
The battery has 4,500 mAh and comes with 30W TurboPower charger that promises sufficient recharge for nine hours of use with just ten minutes of power.
But, as has become clear, cameras are the most attention-grabbing features. The Motorola Edge 20 Pro brings a 108 megapixel main sensor in the rear, accompanied by another 16 megapixel for wide angle and macro.
Highlight for the third rear camera, 8 megapixels. It’s periscope type, so it “bends” light to 90 degrees for clarity to long-distance images —we’re talking about a telephoto camera that offers 5x optical zoom and 50x digital zoom.
Motorola highlights another quality in Edge 20 Pro: 8K and 24 fps footage or 4K with 60 fps.
Motorola Edge 20
The Motorola Edge 20 “normal” is very similar to the Pro model, but has premium intermediate mobile hardware, so to speak. The processor is the Snapdragon 778G accompanied by 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage.
The screen, in turn, retains OLED technology, 6.7 inches in size and the refresh rate of 144 Hz. The battery has a little less capacity, 4,000 mAh, but is also accompanied by a TurboPower charger of 30 W.
The rear set of cameras is almost the same as that found in the Pro model. The difference is that the telephoto camera is not periscope type. Despite this, it can provide 3x optical zoom.
Motorola Edge 20 Lite
We’ve reached the most accessible model in the class. The Motorola Edge 20 Lite also has 6.7-inch OLED display and full HD+ resolution, but the refresh rate is 90 Hz.
Internally, the model features an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 800U chip complemented with 6 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage and 5,000 mAh battery with 30W TurboPower charger.
The 108 megapixel main camera was kept here. The wide-angle and macro sensor comes with 8 megapixels though. The third camera is formed by a 2 megapixel sensor for depth.
Prices and availability
Motorola has not yet reported when the new Edge line will arrive in Brazil, but has promised to launch soon.
There is also no information on prices, but we can get an idea about this based on the values for the European market, already defined:
