ZTE officializes a special edition of the Axon 11 5G. Positioned from 280 euros in China, the new smartphone aims to be an affordable gateway to access the mobile networks of the future. To achieve such a result, some of the strengths of the original Axon 11 5G will have to be conceded. Here are the ones.
Even though the brand has lost its superb in recent years, ZTE continues to feed a varied catalog where the high-end, gamers, mid-range and very economical products mingle. With a very (too?) positioning focused on prices, the brand does not hesitate to make some concessions to lower the amount demanded of consumers. Here’s a great example with theAxon 11 SE 5G that ZTE has just formalized in China.

As the name suggests, the Axon 11 SE 5G is a variation of the Axon 11 5G. A “Special Edition” more precisely: the brand tries to take advantage (without any shame) of the buzz caused by the release of the second iPhone SE, perhaps hoping to create confusion among unsophisticated consumers. Unlike Apple, ZTE does not take over the chassis for the Axon 11 5G to improve the technical sheet. On the other hand, the firm does not take over the chassis and lowers the technical sheet.
Let’s get into the details. The Axon 11 SE 5G is a smartphone that features the square photo block of the Axon 11 (which was itself a cover of the iPhone 11), the curved shell on the faces and a large screen on the front. This screen is LTPS, explaining why a fingerprint reader appears in the back (while it is embedded in the slab in the Axon 11 5G). It measures 6.53 inches and displays full HD images.
A 5G connection provided by MediaTek’s Dimensity 800
Inside, we find the Dimensity 800 of MediaTek, a 5G compatible chipset that already knows its successor, the Dimensity 820. It replaces (difficultly) the Snapdragon 765G of the Axon 11 5G. It comes with 6 or 8GB of RAM and 128 or 256GB of storage, with three configurations that we’ll see at the end of the item. The platform is powered by a 4000 mAh compatible 18 wattfast charging battery.
On the photo side, the Axon 11 SE 5G has a fairly classic configuration these days, with four sensors in the back and a selfie sensor in the front. The latter has a definition of 16 megapixels. The main sensor is a 48-megapixel model with live-sensing autofocus. It is supported by an 8-megapixel sensor (with wide-angle lens) and two 2-megapixel sensors (one for macro and one for depth calculation). The whole thing is animated by Android 10 serving as the basis for MiFavor 10.1.
The Axon 11 SE 5G is pre-ordered in China. It is available at 2000 yuan(250 euros)in 8-128GB version, 2300 yuan(290 euros)in 8-128GB version and 2600 yuan(330 euros)in 8-256GB version.
